WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a natural energy healing modality that works on balancing your body's energy fields. It also helps support the body's self-healing abilities.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Reiki works by restoring balance to the body's energy fields. Disruptions in the flow of life force energy can cause physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances, which can manifest as illness or other health problems. During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner channels energy through hand placements around the clients body, aiming to balance and unblock the flow of life force energy. This help the body's natural healing processes, promote relaxation, and reduce stress and anxiety. Some people also report feelings of improved mood, better sleep, and an overall sense of well-being after a Reiki treatment.

WHAT DOES A REIKI TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?

Receiving a Reiki treatment is a very calming and relaxing experience. You lie down on a comfortable massage table (fully clothed) with a blanket on top of you, and I gently place my hands around different areas of your body to balance your energy flow. I start from the head, and work my way down your body.

Physically, you may feel heat or tingly sensations around the areas I am focusing on, where the is energy balancing or unblocking. You may either fall asleep, or have quite vivid thoughts or be in a semi-conscious dreaming state through the process, but your body should completely relax during the process.

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTERWARDS?

Once we finish with the session, you may feel like you have woken up from a sleep, or feel very light. Most people leave feeling extremely relaxed and/or refreshed. You can feel these calming affects of Reiki for a couple of days afterwards. I recommend not rushing off to do anything too stressful afterwards so your body can rest. You can also often have a very good sleep that night.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

With the release of any blocked energy, stored toxins are filtered by your liver and kidneys. This may cause a slight headache, stomach ache or feeling a little tired. It is always recommended to drink plenty of water after a treatment, and not do anything too strenuous. The body cleansing itself is a natural and important part of the healing process.

CAN I HAVE REIKI IF I'M RECEIVING MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR A CONDITION OR ILLNESS?

Yes you can. Reiki compliments and supports any type of treatment you may already be having for an injury or illness.

WHERE DOES REIKI COME FROM?

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki was founded in Japan in the early 1920's by Mikao Usui, a Japanese philosopher and Buddhist, who went on to train over 2000 students and it is now universally practiced as a holistic treatment.
